Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT is helpful for people who experience intense emotions and focuses on learning a number of skills to help you manage these; mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and emotion regulation. It is similar to CBT but also emphasises acceptance of the way things are as well as change.

To be most effective DBT is delivered by a team and therapy involves group skills training as well as individual therapy. I am fully DBT trained but do not offer DBT as a stand alone therapy. I am however able to integrate skills work into individual therapy (CAT and EMDR) where this is helpful.
